Something from China

While I was at the conference the other week, I wore an outfit I bought in China that I think you all would appreciate. As a project for social and economic development, a friend of mine's wife buys old embroidery and traditional items from some of the minority areas in SE China (Guangxi and Guizhou primarily) and remakes them into clothing. They have some really beautiful things.

It's beautiful. The handwork there is amazing. I was also impressed with the textiles of China. I could have spent thousands on silks alone. Now that I am a quilter, I would pay more attention to the cottons.

This is beautiful. I don't know anything about the handwork of China, not having seen much except a few museum shows. Isn't it interesting how you appreciate work of places you know first hand? It's the personal touch that really makes a the difference.

Thanks for sharing! I love all the handicrafts of SE China. If I could go back I would spend a fortune. I'm considering which of my indigo batik clothing from Dali I am willing to sacrifice for a quilt.
